Certificate of Origin

Some pearls are chosen for their perfection, others for their character. Baroque South Sea pearls have both: the luster and nacre of a fine Australian pearl, and a shape that is never repeated.

They form in the Pinctada maxima, the largest pearl-producing oyster, in Australian waters. For years, the oyster wraps the nucleus layer by layer in nacre, sometimes following its own design. This is how baroque pearls are formed: freeform pearls with ridges and undulations that catch the light differently in each one.

This necklace brings together 64 of them, measuring 11 to 13 mm. Finding this many baroque pearls of this size that match in color and luster is a slow process: the more pearls a necklace has, the harder it is to ensure none disrupts the overall look.

At 90 cm, it can be worn long or doubled, like a double-strand necklace close to the neck. A piece that gives pearls a contemporary feel, just as natural with an open shirt or a sweater as with an evening dress.

We rate it AA+ / AAA on our scale.

The necklace in the photographs is exactly the one you will receive.

What sets it apart

Long or doubled. Worn long, it falls below the chest, moves with the body, and elongates the silhouette. Doubled, it becomes a double-strand necklace of about 44 cm, with the pearls in two strands lying very close together around the neck: a fuller, more striking look. It's two pieces of jewelry in one.

Very intense luster. Luster is the clarity with which a pearl's surface reflects light, and for us, it is a pearl's most important quality. With a baroque pearl, the luster is amplified: every curve and ridge returns its own reflection, and the necklace seems to change as it moves.

Unique baroque shapes. A baroque pearl is neither round, oval, nor teardrop-shaped, but has a freeform shape. No two are alike, which is why every baroque necklace is one of a kind. The pearls in this necklace have generous volume and soft shapes, creating a harmonious whole.

Carefully matched.Matching means bringing together pearls that look alike in color, luster, and size, so the necklace reads as a single piece. In a baroque necklace, where the shape varies from one pearl to another, this balance of color and luster is what brings unity to all 90 cm.

White with silvery overtones. These pearls are white, with a subtle tendency toward silver or a silky gray. This cool, luminous shade is characteristic of white South Sea pearls.

Silk-knotted, with your choice of clasp. We string the necklace by hand, separating each pearl with a knot in silk thread. This keeps the pearls from rubbing against each other and, if the thread were to break, prevents them all from coming loose. You can choose a round clasp in 18-karat yellow or white gold.

If you'd like more information, photographs, or videos of the necklace, feel free to write or call us. You can also request a Virtual Appointment, and we'll show it to you up close in different lighting.
